Some people seem to think "shopping" means going next door and "borrowing" whatever they want. Who needs to shop when your neighbors have the good stuff already? An open letter to some chronic 'offenders.' Amusing, but also serious.

Having been the victim of borrowing neighbors, i now just say "i don't have any" or "i'm getting ready to use it".

I have a couple of 'friends' who think borrowing means, give it to me, because i never intend to return it or replace it. I have had to replace curling irons, heating pads, furniture polish, dishes, food, and i don't know how much money i have been bilked out of.

There comes a time when you just have to say ENOUGH!

Great letter and so on the money. I have a neighbor who likes to borrow our latter and leave it out in the rain. She's single and doesn't have a steady job so I do have a hard time saying no when she wants to borrow something, so I let my husband deal with her.

A compulsive borrower on our street stopped talking to everyone after he was confronted by a group of neighbors. It's a shame. He couldn't accept any criticism, and he wouldn't listen. He just stormed off. All we were trying to tell him is return the stuff you borrow, it's a normal courtesy. Now we hear he's thinking of moving. Amazing.

Well if they sold it to somebody, that would be worse.

You are all cheap. Give alms to the poor and needy, neighbors. In the end you will feel better, a little poorer but when you get to the pearly gates remind Jesus, you gave to the poor. Isn't life all about feeling better?

Myself I would tell the neighbor to get a job and a life.

Now if any of that makes sense you are a better person than myself!! :)

A large nasty barking dog will cure the borrowers of their affliction

Chronic borrowers are worse than chronic complainers. I hate them. Get your own life, I say.

                      Am i being too unkind?
